Appellate Experience
We represent our clients on appeal, whether defending a client’s victory or challenging an adverse decision. In civil cases in Virginia state court this ordinarily means an appeal to the Supreme Court of Virginia. In Tennessee, this ordinarily means an appeal to the Tennessee Court of Appeals.
In federal court, this means an appeal to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond (for cases arising in Virginia federal court) or the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati (for cases arising in Tennessee federal court). Two of our lawyers are permanent members of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Judicial Conference, which is the conference that is the annual meeting of all of the federal judges in the Fourth Circuit, and one of our lawyers was the Fourth Circuit Editor for the American Bar Association Appellate Practice Journal for a number of years.
