Construction Disputes
We represent owners, contractors, and subcontractors in various construction-related disputes. Sometimes the dispute is between the owner of a project and the party or parties hired to work on the project. Sometimes the dispute is between the various contractors with respect to payment or their performance obligations. Issues may include offsets, retainage, or back charges. Sometimes the dispute involves all of these issues.
We also have had experience with claims under the Virginia Public Procurement Act, which sets forth requirements and rules regarding certain types of public construction projects involving governmental agencies and public authorities in Virginia.
We also represent parties in mechanics lien matters, in obtaining or opposing attachments to bonds, or in obtaining or opposing pre-judgment attachments.
